Goodbye Youngeun!

Our bread princess is leaving cocoan lab. Yeongeun has always taken care of everyone with sweetness and warmth and that kindness will stay with us. Wishing her days and her research to rise and puff up beautifully!

2025 Summer School

These are the summer-school interns who produced impressive results in such a short time. Working on a topic related to rating scales, they recruited participants themselves, analyzed the data, and delivered an excellent poster presentation. Their summer was super energectic!

2025 OHBM

Cocoan Lab members are back from OHBM in Australia. Wani’s captivating talk, Eui-jin’s impressive oral-talk debut, and the great posters from Jungwoo, Yeongeun, and Yuseon. Everyone worked so hard! We’ll never forget Australia’s coffee, weather, and chill vibe!

Goodbye SooAhn!

SooAhn is leaving cocoan lab. She’s been like a touch of ‘pleasure’- a bright, uplifting presence. We wish her all the best as she begins her new chapter in the United States!

2025 PREMIER Workshop

Predictive Modeling in Emotion and Cognition Research hosted at Fudan University. Our Cocoan Lab - Wani, Hongji, and Eui-Jin - was thrilled to join, share ideas, and learn from amazing researchers. Huge thanks to Deniz Vatansever, Benjamin Becker, Zhou Feng, and their teams for leading such engaging sessions! Already looking forward to the next opportunity to meet and collaborate!

April 2025

Goodbye Suhwan!

Suhwan, one of the founding members, is now leaving cocoan lab. Many have looked up to him as a father figure, a leader, and a source of guidance and support. Without him, cocoan would not be what it is today. We wish him a bright and successful future ahead!

Congratulations! Suhwan and Sooahn received doctoral degrees, and Joobin and Jaehyuk received bachelor’s degrees. We believe that wherever they are, they will do well in their work and lives, and wish them the best of luck.

January 2025

IPHC symposium

This year, the IPHC Symposium was held at Novotel, and it was an event filled with a variety of presentations, including plenary lectures, graduate student excellent papers, poster presentations, young scientist oral presentations, and ExCool presentations. One of our lab members, Suhwan, gave a presentation for the graduate student excellent papers and proudly won the gold prize! Yuseon shared the progress of his project through a poster presentation, and there was literally a long line of people eager to hear from him! He ended up winning the bronze prize. Wani also delivered a plenary lecture on “pain” and shared his research perspectives, which was both insightful and engaging.
It was a meaningful opportunity to hear about research from diverse fields and gain valuable insights into various areas of study.

CNIR new year’s Event

Happy New Year! CNIR held the 2025 New Year Event at Novotel, and it was a fantastic event. The dress code was “gold and white”. The party featured a touching opening ceremony and a delicious buffet that everyone enjoyed. First and foremost, Hongji’s twinkling hosting as much as her golden costume was absolutely amazing! Sadly, we didn’t win the lottery prize, but we’re already looking forward to the next one. Maybe next time, luck will be on our side!

Cocoan MT

Cocoan went to our first MT in Daebu-do! We prepared a variety of programs to make it meaningful. We took time to share the current state of our academic achievements and ongoing activities that shape our lab culture. It was truly meaningful to reflect on Cocoan’s past 7 years. Afterward, we enjoyed a barbecue dinner, and thanks to the skillful barbecue experts, it turned out to be an amazing meal. We then had a blast with several team speed games, a pop quiz, and the Cocoan awards. We bet that we became closer than ever after this MT.
Through this MT, we hope that all of the Cocoan members feel a stronger sense of connection to the lab and are inspired to conduct even better research for the lab’s future:)
